L´Agulhas (May 14th to 15th) The END!

We made it!!!

2 days short of 9 months!
Total mileage 25,891miles (41,685km)
36 countries
Mileage from Kapp to Cape 23,046miles (36,873km)
1 puncture in 1 rear tyre!

Each bike used: 431 gallons (1957 litres) approx. of fuel
4 sets of rear brake pads
4 sets of tyres
3 sets of Chain & Sprockets

A big THANK YOU to those who have supported us & helped when needed, especially Susan & Beth, who have always done their best to keep in contact! Not forgetting all our new friends we have made along the way! Thank you all.

We recon that within 20 years it will possible to travel the length of Africa on tarmac! However, for those who still want an adventure, you will be able to pick many routes to fulfill that desire!

The Garden Route (May 8th to 13th)

Lesotho (May 7th to 8th)

What a wonderful 2 days of riding in Lesotho.
Mostly it was on dirt roads through glorious scenery but the last 100 k´s or so were on new tarmac.
We decided to bush camp overnight at 8300 ft and since this is their winter we woke to a heavy frost.
We were soon joined by local sheep/goat/cow/horse herders who thought we were mad but were quite happy to share our remaining bread.

Note the sign Matt, we instantly thought of you & Ian!!!

Sani Pass (May 7th)

In 1971 Mike & his mate Charlie tried to get to the top of Sani Pass & failed just before the top as the Landrover ran out of air!!!

This time he made it & Joel of course.

The Sani Pass is the only route into Lesotho from Natal, Zulu Land, South Africa. It is 8km´s long & rises over 5000 feet along very rough, rocky, dirt track with tight hairpin bends. It is notoriously difficult & only 4x4´s & road legal off road bikes are allowed.
